The Gardens

Set on 5 acres of sloping land at the edge of a hill these gardens are a children’s paradise. Steps lead up to a climbing tree, the oak tree has a swing and there is a trapeze and a paddling pool which you are welcome to fill and use for the duration of your stay. All children’s play areas used at your own risk, please don’t sue us if someone falls off the swing or out of the tree…

There is an orchard with apple, peach, nectarine, fig and cherry trees. Something is sure to be ripe during your visit so please make good use of everything that you find.

There is a small frog pond in the garden, just by the garden room. Please use the safety cover if you have small children, they do love to try and catch the frogs.

There are a number of sun-loungers and reclining chairs for your use, feel free to move them around the garden as you wish.

Swimming

There are many options for cooling off when the weather is hot; these are just a few.

  • The lake at Mollieres (a 5 minute drive) which is open to the public and has a good children’s play area, pedal boats, ice-cream kiosk etc. (see photo on home page). It is a bit like spending the day at the beach but not as busy.
  • La Francaise (a 10 minute drive) has a full size public swimming pool with a large children’s pool.
  • The river, gorgeous clean running water and shady grassy picnic spots make this a favourite for us.
